Samuel Paul / Bio

From a young age Samuel Paul knew he was going to be an artist. The Los Angeles native with a BA in Fine Arts originally intended to pursue a career as a portrait painter, as he loved working with the mediums of oil paints and pastels. Inspired by the legendary artist Kevyn Aucoin’s ability to transform the faces of icons such as Janet Jackson and possessing a fondness for photography and fashion, Samuel transitioned his artistic talents into makeup artistry. Combining an inherent understanding of color and technique, his formal art training, and collaborative nature, Samuel has come to work with fashion and beauty powerhouses such as Nordstrom, Forever21, Paul Mitchell, St. John, NastyGal and Sam Edelman. He has worked with photographers such as Ellen von Unwerth, Zoey Grossman, Naj Jamai, Tony Kelly, and Jan Welters, among others, shooting for Vs., Madame Figaro, Nylon, and ELLE. He has worked with up-and-coming talent such as Tessa Thompson, Kiersey Clemons, and Melissa Benoist as well as celebrated actresses such as Anika Noni-Rose. Samuel continues to explore his love of Fine Art and plans on completing a series for gallery showing. He also sees a future in product development and looks forward to creating his own line of products. Samuel resides and works in Los Angeles, traveling frequently for work.
